Read The City’s Character Area At The Right Scale
Brookhaven’s comprehensive plan groups Ashford Park with Drew Valley and Skyland Park in the Ashford Park-Drew Valley character area. It describes these established neighborhoods as developing in the 1940s and 1950s, historically with smaller houses on larger lots. The same description notes substantial residential infill, often involving much larger houses. Those are character-area observations, not a construction history for every Ashford Park address. Oscar recommends treating the neighborhood name as a research starting point and checking the current residence directly. Do not use the grouped planning area to rename the neighborhood or assume that an older map depicts the present building footprint accurately.
Replace Listing Assumptions With Current Measurements
Oscar recommends obtaining a current walkthrough or a fresh set of photographs before choosing furniture placements. Confirm the actual entrance, room connections, stair locations, and any space that looks different from the listing or floor plan you received. Measure the receiving rooms as well as the route into them; a piece can fit through the door yet be unsuitable for its intended location. Ask the property contact to identify additions or altered circulation only where they are known, and label uncertainty honestly. Send the resulting measurements to the mover rather than describing the house simply as an older home or a larger replacement residence.
Match Box Labels To The Present Floor Plan
Oscar recommends labeling boxes with the destination room’s current name and position, not the room name used at your previous home. Where a residence has multiple living areas or bedrooms, add a simple floor-plan key that everyone can follow. Mark the intended location of desks, beds, and storage furniture before unloading begins, and distinguish temporary storage from final placement. Keep any rooms awaiting a household decision out of the primary delivery sequence. This approach is especially useful when the layout is unfamiliar, but it should be based on your walkthrough rather than assumptions about the age, size, or style of other homes in the neighborhood.
