Neighborhood History And Geography
The subdivision of Kings Forest holds established history in southwest Atlanta's 30331 area near the Ben Hill community. In 1957, local resident Mrs. Doris Wilson donated more than 20 acres of land positioned between Fairburn Road and Austin Road within the Kings Forest Subdivision to the Diocese of Atlanta. This tract supported the early parish life of the Most Blessed Sacrament, which initially met in Ben Hill facilities before opening a chapel at 1926 Austin Road in 1962. Streets such as Fairburn Road SW, Austin Road, Barge Road SW, and King Edward Trail SW define the layout of this residential area. While later church property was acquired at Stone Road and North Camp Creek Parkway, Kings Forest retains its original footprint between Fairburn and Austin Roads.
Residential Architecture And Housing
Homes across Kings Forest include single detached properties, small apartment buildings, and duplexes. The majority of these residential structures were built during the 1960s and 1970s.
